FAQ

SET UP AND CHARGING

Can I un-plug the docking station ?

NO – The docking station does not have a battery. If it is unplugged from the power source, then the missmo connection to the network will be lost and the missmo will be inoperative

Can I use my own USB charger?

YES you can, but we do recommend that you use the charger provided with your missmo. Using any charger less than 5W will result in non-optimal charging of the battery and reduced autonomy.

How long does it take to charge the battery of the display?

It takes about 4 hours to fully charge the battery of the display.

How long does the display battery last without a charge?

Under normal conditions, the display will last up to 60 days before needing to be charged. This may vary based on several factors such as the strength of your Bluetooth connection to the docking station, the number of messages you have received, the amount of user interaction (e.g. browsing through messages), and the LED activity (e.g. reporting of errors or warnings)

After I switch off the missmo display, I still see content displayed on the screen, is that normal?

YES – E-ink displays keep a ghost memory of the last image on the screen after being switched off. This will not consume any battery nor damage your screen.

How can I switch off the docking station?

The docking station is the heart of the missmo. It does not have a switch button because it is meant to stay “on” all the time (otherwise your missmo will stop working). The only way to switch off the docking station is to unplug it from its power source.

How do I upgrade my missmo with a newer firmware version?

You do not have to do anything, this is done automatically. When a new firmware version becomes available, it is automatically sent over the air to your missmo via the mobile network and it will be automatically installed. You will be notified of firmware upgrades. The current firmware version number installed on your missmo can be found in the System Information screen.

Can I take my missmo with me in vacation?

YES – You can take the missmo with you in vacation. All you need is a 2G network connection and a power source for the docking station.

CONNECTIVITY

Why do I have poor Bluetooth connectivity ?

Your display is probably too far from your docking station or both units are separated by thick walls or floors. Try to move your docking station to a closer location or a location with less obstacles.

Why do I have poor network reception?

The location of your docking station is not optimal. Try to move it in the house until you find the best possible network reception. It could also be due to the fact your home is in an area with poor mobile network coverage.

Why do I have no network reception (but I have Bluetooth reception)?

You are not connected to the mobile network. There are 4 possible causes: 1) There are currently no active service provider network available in your area, 2) the SIM card located at the bottom of the docking station is missing or not fully inserted, 3) the network you are connected to does not support 2G GSM technology (required by missmo), or 4) your missmo subscription has expired.

Can I use my Wi-Fi connection at home?

NO – The current version of missmo does not support Wi-Fi and requires a mobile network connection to receive data and messages.

What mobile networks are supported?

Any mobile network supporting GSM 2G technology. Some service providers have decommissioned their 2G networks to reuse their frequencies for 4G or LTE networks. In case of difficulties connecting your missmo to a mobile network, try another service provider if you have the choice or contact your operator.

USER PORTAL

Why do I need to go to the missmo user portal?

You do not have to go to the User Portal to receive personal messages from your friends and family. However, if you want to change the preferences of your missmo or schedule reminders and bulletins, you must do it using our user portal.

How do I access the missmo user portal?

Access the following URL from any computer, tablet or smartphone: http://www.o-missmo.com. If it is the first time you visit this site, you will be asked to register your missmo and create a user account.

How long does it take before changes that I make in the user portal become effective in my missmo?

User parameters are transferred to the missmo within a couple of minutes after you have saved your changes in the web portal.

MISSMO OPERATION

Where can I find the serial number of my missmo?

The serial number of your missmo appears on a sticker on the back of the docking station and on the box.

I no longer receive the scheduled bulletins and reminders that I am supposed to receive, why?

There are two probable causes: 1) you have deleted or turned off your reminders or bulletins in the user portal, or 2) you have reached the monthly limit of messages in your subscription plan

Can I acknowledge a message?

If your SIM card subscription supports the Acknowledgement, then you will have the possibility to acknowledge any personal message by clicking on the Acknowledge arrow icon in the detailed message view. A standard message will be forwarded via SMS to the person at the origin of the message. This standard message can be customized in the user portal. You can also disable this feature from the user portal. If your SIM card subscription does NOT support the Acknowledgement feature, then you will never see it in the missmo nor in the user portal

Can I un-plug the docking station ?

NO – The docking station does not have a battery. If it is unplugged from the power source, then the missmo connection to the network will be lost and the missmo will be inoperative
